April 2026 — Holland America Line hosted a week-long celebration of tea aboard the Volendam during its Grand World Voyage in Asia from March 24–30. The cruise line’s Culinary Ambassador program invited Master Tea Blender Steve Schwartz, founder of Art of Tea, to lead a variety of tea-themed activities for passengers.
A Journey Through Tea
Schwartz aimed to show guests that tea is more than a drink. It represents culture, art, and tradition. He highlighted the connection tea creates between people and communities.
“Bringing the spirit of tea aboard Holland America Line’s Grand World Voyage was truly meaningful,” Schwartz said. He also crafted a custom tea blend in collaboration with the cruise line.
Guests joined guided tastings, afternoon tea services, seminars, and interactive conversations. These activities helped them understand tea history and rituals.
Program Highlights
Key experiences included:
- Exclusive High Tea in the Dining Room hosted by Schwartz.
- Tea Tasting Experience, where guests evaluated aroma, flavor, and structure.
- Shore excursions exploring regional tea culture, such as “Journey Through Tea” in Singapore and “Vietnamese Lotus Tea Culture & Vegan Food Experience” in Vietnam.
