Uganda Airlines Becomes First African Carrier to Adopt Amadeus SkyWORKS
Uganda Airlines has signed a new agreement with travel technology company Amadeus, becoming the first African airline to deploy Amadeus SkyWORKS.
The flight scheduling solution will help the airline improve operational planning, evaluate different flight schedules and make faster scheduling decisions.
In addition, the technology will support Uganda Airlines’ expansion plans across East Africa and international markets.
Amadeus SkyWORKS Improves Flight Schedule Planning
The Uganda Airlines Amadeus SkyWORKS agreement introduces an integrated platform designed to simplify airline scheduling.
The solution provides a central workspace where planning teams can create, edit and evaluate flight schedules.
It also includes graphical displays that allow users to compare different scheduling scenarios.
Furthermore, real-time feasibility checks help teams assess whether proposed schedules meet operational requirements.
The platform also supports schedule reporting and distribution, bringing several planning activities into one system.
As a result, Uganda Airlines expects to improve scheduling efficiency while maintaining greater operational flexibility.
Centralised Platform Supports Better Scheduling Decisions
One of the main benefits of SkyWORKS is its ability to organise schedule-related information in a central location.
Instead of working across separate systems, airline teams can access different schedule views and evaluate business scenarios.
This approach can help planners identify potential scheduling conflicts and make more informed decisions.
Uganda Airlines said the rollout will provide its teams with improved visibility and greater control over flight planning.
The airline also expects the technology to support its growth across East Africa and other international destinations.
Amadeus Expands Technology Partnership With Uganda Airlines
The agreement strengthens the existing relationship between Uganda Airlines and Amadeus.
The two companies have previously collaborated on several airline technology solutions, including Amadeus Altéa, revenue management and loyalty management.
With the addition of SkyWORKS, the partnership now extends further into flight schedule planning.
Amadeus said the solution will provide greater flexibility and control through an advanced technology platform.
Moreover, its improved usability aims to help airline teams manage increasingly complex scheduling requirements.
Uganda Airlines Continues International Expansion
Launched in 2019, Uganda Airlines has been expanding its international network and strengthening connections between East Africa and global markets.
The airline connects the region with destinations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
It also supports access to major East African tourism destinations, including Lake Victoria and Victoria Falls.
Meanwhile, Uganda Airlines continues to develop partnerships with other carriers to extend its international reach.
One recent development includes an interline partnership with Air India, which supports wider travel connectivity.
Digital Scheduling Technology Supports Airline Growth
As airline networks expand, effective scheduling becomes increasingly important for managing aircraft operations and route planning.
Integrated scheduling platforms can help airlines assess different operating scenarios while improving coordination between planning teams.
For Uganda Airlines, adopting Amadeus SkyWORKS represents another step in its digital transformation.
The technology will support more structured scheduling decisions as the carrier develops its regional and international operations.
The agreement also marks an important milestone for Amadeus, bringing its SkyWORKS scheduling platform to an African airline for the first time.
