Ferrol Cruise Port’s New Terminal to Open in Spring 2027
Ferrol Cruise Port, operated by Global Ports Holding (GPH), expects its new passenger terminal to become operational in spring 2027.
The project follows a 30-year concession awarded to GPH by the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority. Under the agreement, GPH will build and operate the new cruise terminal at the port.
Terminal Development to Begin in 2026
The new facility will occupy 960 square metres on the port’s outer quay. Development will take place in two phases.
During the first phase, GPH will build a 480-square-metre passenger terminal. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with operations planned for the 2027 cruise season.
The new terminal is expected to support Ferrol’s development as a cruise destination. In addition, it will strengthen links between the port, the city and the wider region.
Jose Antonio Alvarez Vidal, president of the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority, described the partnership with GPH as a strategic alliance for the port and the city.
He said the Ferrol Cruise Port project will help increase passenger traffic and promote the region’s tourism appeal. Furthermore, he linked the development with the wider transformation of Ferrol and efforts to open its maritime and historic heritage to visitors and residents.
GPH Expands Spanish Cruise Network
Francesc Grau, GPH Regional Director, West Med, said Ferrol adds an important location to the company’s West Mediterranean and Atlantic portfolio.
GPH expects the terminal to create opportunities for both the port and the destination. Meanwhile, the company aims to support Ferrol’s long-term cruise growth through its regional experience, operating standards and connectivity.
The project will also expand GPH’s presence in Spain and the Atlantic region as the company develops its cruise port network.
