Astro Ocean Confirms Brazil Operations Partnership for Piano Land
Astro Ocean Cruises has confirmed an agreement with Global Cruiseline Ltd (GLCL), which will operate as Corazul Cruceros, to operate the Piano Land in Brazil.
Under the agreement, the 1995-built cruise ship has been renamed Buenavista. Astro Ocean described the deal as an overseas strategic cooperation agreement supporting its global expansion plans.
Buenavista to Begin Brazil Cruises
The agreement is already in effect, according to Astro Ocean. The Buenavista is expected to begin its repositioning voyage to South America soon.
The ship is scheduled to operate its maiden cruise in Brazil on October 26, 2026. As part of the new deployment, the 69,000-ton vessel will operate cruises from Santos and Rio de Janeiro.
It will offer three- to seven-night itineraries to destinations including Salvador, Búzios, Balneário Camboriú and Cabo Frio.
Corazul Expands South American Operations
Corazul Cruceros launched in Spain earlier in 2026. The company initially planned to operate Mediterranean cruises for the Spanish market. However, those plans were later canceled.
The company subsequently shifted its focus to South America. It partnered with R11 Travel to establish a cruise operation in Brazil for the 2026–27 season.
R11 Travel opened bookings for the company’s maiden Brazilian season in May. More recently, the company expanded Corazul’s deployment with additional sailings scheduled between late October and early April.
Corazul had previously indicated that European and Mediterranean operations could be considered for 2027. However, no further plans for those markets have been announced.
Bareboat Charter to Support Deployment
Corazul COO Cammile Appeldoorn previously told Cruise Industry News that the Buenavista will operate under a bareboat charter agreement.
The ship is expected to undergo preparations while repositioning to Brazil. BSM will manage the 1,806-passenger vessel during the operation.
The ship originally entered service in 1995 for P&O Cruises as Oriana. The new Brazil deployment adds another international operating market for the vessel while supporting Astro Ocean’s broader global expansion strategy.
