Cruise line prolongs pause at private destination

Royal Caribbean has extended its Royal Caribbean Labadee suspension, cancelling all scheduled visits to its private destination in Haiti through June 2027.

The move extends an earlier suspension that had already removed Labadee from cruise itineraries through late 2026.

Safety concerns drive the decision

Located on Haiti’s Cap-Haïtien coast, Labadee was removed from itineraries in 2025 because of ongoing security and safety concerns.

According to the cruise line, the decision followed a continued review of conditions in Haiti.

The company said it extended the suspension to protect the safety and well-being of both guests and crew members. It also confirmed that affected passengers are being notified directly about itinerary changes.

Support continues for employees and local communities

Although cruises will not call at Labadee, Royal Caribbean said it remains committed to supporting its employees at the destination.

The company has identified positions across its fleet and other destinations for affected team members during the operational pause.

In addition, Royal Caribbean said it will continue its humanitarian efforts in the region, including monthly food donations and ongoing support for local communities.

Alternative ports replace Labadee visits

According to passenger reports, cruises affected by the Royal Caribbean Labadee suspension have been rerouted to other Caribbean destinations.

Replacement ports include:

  • Nassau, Bahamas
  • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
  • Cozumel, Mexico

These itinerary changes allow sailings to continue while avoiding the affected area.

Labadee has served Royal Caribbean since the 1980s

Labadee has been one of Royal Caribbean’s private destinations since the 1980s.

The resort received major upgrades in 2009 and offers private beaches, a local craft market, a roller coaster and one of the Caribbean’s longest zip lines.
