Kuwait-based travel startup Seatlr is building a social platform that connects travelers heading to the same destination, allowing them to exchange tips, plan activities and communicate in multiple languages before, during and after their trips.

Founded in 2025, the company combines destination-based chat rooms with on-device AI translation to create what it describes as a permanent social layer for travel.

Connecting Travelers by Destination

Seatlr asks users to enter their flight number after booking a trip. The app then places them in a chat room dedicated to their destination city, where they can interact with other travelers flying from different airlines.

Unlike traditional travel forums, the city rooms remain active over time. Travelers can ask questions before departure, connect during their stay and share local knowledge after returning home.

The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play.

AI Translation Supports Global Conversations

A key feature of Seatlr is its on-device AI translation, which supports 59 languages.

Because translations run directly on users’ devices, conversations remain fast while reducing cloud infrastructure costs and improving privacy.

The company believes this approach allows travelers from different countries to communicate naturally without language barriers.

Growth Through Partnerships

Seatlr plans to grow primarily through organic referrals and partnerships with airlines, tourism organizations and travel creators.

The startup also intends to target high-traffic international routes to build active destination communities more quickly.

According to the company, airlines and online travel agencies could use the platform to increase traveler engagement throughout the travel journey.

Revenue Model Still in Development

Seatlr currently plans to monetize the platform through AI-powered travel recommendations linked to commission-based bookings.

The feature, which remains under development, will recommend hotels, attractions and experiences while generating affiliate revenue from completed bookings.

Instead of charging subscription fees, the company aims to earn revenue through traveler engagement and partner commissions.

Challenges and Market Opportunity

Like many social platforms, Seatlr faces the challenge of building enough users to create active communities in each destination.

The company also operates without a paid user acquisition budget and currently relies on organic growth.

However, Seatlr sees a significant opportunity in the global air travel market, which it estimates includes 4.5 billion airline passengers each year. The startup believes destination-based communities can fill a gap left by booking platforms, which primarily focus on transactions rather than traveler interaction.

Looking Ahead

Over the next year, Seatlr plans to expand its city-based communities, introduce AI-powered recommendations and pursue strategic partnerships with airlines and tourism organizations.

Its long-term vision is to become a global travel knowledge platform where travelers can find trusted local advice, connect with others and access personalized recommendations throughout every stage of their journey.
