Global Ports Holding Opens New Las Palmas Cruise Port Terminal

Global Ports Holding (GPH) and Las Palmas Cruise Port have celebrated the opening of a new cruise terminal in Gran Canaria, Spain.

More than 1,000 cruise industry representatives, partners, local authorities and stakeholders attended the opening event.

New Cruise Terminal Opens

The celebration introduced the new Las Palmas Cruise Port terminal to the cruise industry. The event featured live music, carnival performances, acrobatics and a drone show.

The terminal covers 14,000 square metres. It is designed to increase port capacity and improve the passenger experience.

The facility can accommodate up to four cruise ships at the same time. It also provides a modern gateway for visitors arriving in Gran Canaria.

Boost for Cruise Tourism

Global Ports Holding Vice Chairperson Ayşegül Bensel said the opening celebrates the cruise industry and the future of Las Palmas as a year-round cruise destination.

Meanwhile, Beatriz Calzada, President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, said the new terminal strengthens the port’s role as a cruise hub for the Mid-Atlantic.

Susana Gutiérrez, General Manager of GPH Canary Islands Cruise Ports, said the terminal will improve the arrival experience for cruise passengers.

The Las Palmas Cruise Port project represents a major investment by GPH in the Canary Islands. The company expects the new facility to support growing cruise activity while providing passengers with improved services and facilities.
