Uganda Airlines Becomes First African Carrier to Deploy Amadeus SkyWORKS
Uganda Airlines has partnered with Amadeus to deploy Amadeus SkyWORKS, becoming the first African carrier to use the flight schedule development solution.
Integrated Scheduling Solution
Amadeus SkyWORKS provides Uganda Airlines with an integrated workbench for developing and managing flight schedules. The platform includes graphic schedule displays, editing tools and real-time feasibility checks.
The solution also supports schedule reporting and distribution. As a result, Uganda Airlines can evaluate different scheduling scenarios and make more structured decisions.
“Rollout of SkyWORKS provides our teams with numerous schedule views to evaluate different business scenarios and offers us a central repository for all schedule-related information,” said Shakila Rahim Lamar, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Uganda Airlines. “The solution will be a transformative addition to our technology stack, accelerating our growth across East Africa and further afield.”
Supporting Airline Growth
The SkyWORKS deployment builds on the existing partnership between Uganda Airlines and Amadeus. The two companies have previously collaborated on Altéa, revenue management and loyalty management solutions.
“Our partnership with Uganda Airlines continues to evolve, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation and operational excellence,” said Yassine Mellak, VP Sales and Account Management, META, Amadeus.
He added that SkyWORKS will provide greater flexibility and control over schedule management while improving usability through its technology platform.
Expanding East African Connectivity
Launched in 2019, Uganda Airlines connects East African destinations with markets across South Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
The airline continues to expand its network through partnerships. For example, it recently established an interline partnership with Air India, supporting connectivity between its network and additional international destinations.
The deployment of SkyWORKS will give Uganda Airlines additional tools to manage schedule planning as the carrier continues to expand its operations.
