FAA Invests $481 Million to Improve Airport Infrastructure Across the US

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investing $481 million to improve airport infrastructure across the United States. The funding will support safety, efficiency and capacity at airports ahead of the busy Labor Day travel period.

The FAA will provide 191 grants to airports across 36 states and two territories through its Airport Infrastructure Grants program.

Major Airports Receive Infrastructure Funding

The investment will support runway, taxiway and terminal improvements at airports across the country.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will receive $100 million. The funding will support runway, taxiway and terminal reconstruction, along with runway safety improvements.

Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport will receive $32.5 million for terminal reconstruction. Meanwhile, San Diego International Airport will receive $30.3 million for terminal construction.

Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport will receive $14.2 million for taxiway construction and rehabilitation. El Paso International Airport will receive $8.7 million to rehabilitate its apron.

In addition, general aviation airports in Wisconsin will receive $2.5 million. The funding will support terminal reconstruction, runway and taxiway rehabilitation and snow-removal facility improvements.

Improving Safety and Travel Efficiency

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy said the investment will improve infrastructure at major regional hubs and busy airports. Furthermore, the upgrades aim to provide travelers with a more efficient and reliable experience.

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the grants will help airports maintain safe and efficient operations. The funding will also help airports meet current travel demand while preparing for future growth.

Overall, the FAA airport infrastructure investment will strengthen critical facilities across the country. The projects will focus on improving airport safety, operational efficiency and long-term infrastructure capacity.
