Emirates has postponed the return of its Airbus A380 on five major international routes, extending schedule changes as the conflict involving Iran continues to affect the airline’s operations.
The carrier has confirmed that the superjumbo will not operate on services from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Glasgow, Hong Kong, Osaka Kansai, Perth and Prague during August 2026.
Five Routes Remain Without the A380
The affected routes currently operate with other aircraft instead of the Airbus A380.
Although Emirates had planned to restore A380 services in August, it has now moved the tentative return date to September 1, 2026.
However, aviation industry data suggests the airline could delay the return again until October, depending on how the regional situation develops.
Hong Kong Services Continue via Bangkok
While nonstop A380 flights between Dubai and Hong Kong remain suspended, Emirates continues to operate the aircraft on services that route through Bangkok.
The airline currently flies an A380 from Dubai to Hong Kong via Bangkok using fifth freedom rights between the Thai and Hong Kong sectors.
According to the latest schedule, Emirates plans to operate three daily A380 flights to Hong Kong from October, including two nonstop services and one flight via Bangkok.
Glasgow Capacity to Rise When A380 Returns
Glasgow has been one of the most affected destinations by the ongoing fleet adjustments.
Since March 2026, Emirates has operated the route using the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER instead of the A380.
Once the superjumbo returns, daily seat capacity will increase from 664 seats to 1,038 seats, representing a 56% increase.
The airline currently plans to resume A380 operations on the route from September 1, although that date may change if operational conditions remain challenging.
Network Remains Under Review
Emirates continues to adjust its A380 deployment across its global network as geopolitical conditions evolve.
The airline has already restored the superjumbo on several routes. However, it continues to review schedules regularly and may introduce further changes in the coming weeks.
