Asia Pacific business travel is expected to remain the world’s largest regional market in 2026, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty. According to new forecasts presented at the GBTA APAC Conference 2026, business travel spending across the region is projected to reach $700.9 billion USD next year.
Moreover, the forecast represents a year-over-year increase of 10.9%, highlighting continued demand for corporate travel across key APAC markets.
Asia Pacific Business Travel Continues Strong Growth
The latest projections were shared during the GBTA APAC Conference 2026, held May 12–13 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
The event was co-located with WERC APAC 26 for the fourth consecutive year. In total, the conference attracted more than 1,100 registered attendees from 35 countries.
According to GBTA, Asia Pacific business travel continues to show strong momentum as companies expand regional operations, strengthen partnerships, and increase international mobility.
However, industry confidence has softened slightly in recent months.
Geopolitical Concerns Impact Industry Sentiment
Although the regional outlook remains positive, many travel industry professionals still express concerns about economic and geopolitical risks.
GBTA’s April global survey showed APAC optimism declined to 46%, compared to 56% recorded in January.
As a result, companies are balancing growth opportunities with rising concerns around global trade tensions, economic volatility, and shifting business conditions.
Nevertheless, Asia Pacific business travel remains a major driver of global corporate travel demand.
Singapore Business Travel Generates Strong Economic Impact
GBTA also released new data on Singapore’s business travel economy during the conference.
According to the findings, business travel to and within Singapore generates approximately $8.1 billion in annual revenue.
In addition, the report found that 56% of every dollar spent on business travel remains within the local economy, supporting businesses, hospitality providers, transportation services, and related industries.
Therefore, business travel continues to play an important role in regional economic development and tourism recovery efforts.
