Royal Caribbean International has officially launched Legend of the Seas, the third ship in its Icon Class, with its maiden voyage in the Western Mediterranean.

The 250,800-ton vessel departed Civitavecchia, Italy, on July 4, 2026, for its first seven-night cruise after Meyer Turku delivered the ship in late June.

The inaugural itinerary includes calls at La Spezia, Marseille, Barcelona, and Palma de Mallorca, along with two relaxing days at sea in the Mediterranean.

Throughout its maiden European season, Legend of the Seas will operate seven-night cruises in the Western Mediterranean through October 2026. In addition to Civitavecchia, guests can also board the ship in Barcelona.

Moreover, the deployment features visits to popular destinations such as Naples in Italy and Malaga in Spain, giving travelers a variety of Mediterranean experiences.

After completing its summer season in Europe, the ship will sail across the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale for its North American debut.

From Port Everglades, Legend of the Seas will offer six- to eight-night Caribbean cruises to destinations in the Southern, Eastern and Western Caribbean. The LNG-powered ship will also introduce new ports for the Icon Class, including Oranjestad in Aruba, Willemstad in Curaçao and Cabo Rojo in the Dominican Republic.

In addition, Caribbean itineraries will include visits to Royal Caribbean’s private destinations, Labadee in Haiti and Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

Looking ahead, Royal Caribbean plans to return Legend of the Seas to the Western Mediterranean for a second summer season in 2027. The ship will then spend the 2027–28 winter season sailing from Fort Lauderdale.

The launch of Legend of the Seas further expands Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class fleet and strengthens the cruise line’s presence in both the European and Caribbean markets.
