Passenger reservations top 60,000 as forward demand strengthens for 2026 season
Brittany Ferries has reported a sharp rise in demand for sailings to and from Guernsey, with new figures showing a 33% year-on-year increase in reservations.
According to the operator, 60,880 passengers had booked travel between the UK and Guernsey, and France and Guernsey, for sailings up to 31 October. At the same point last year, bookings stood at 45,713.
The latest data highlights continued growth in Guernsey ferry bookings increase trends as the company enters its second season operating under contract with the States of Guernsey.
Strong Forward Momentum
Brittany Ferries said booking levels demonstrate “consistent and positive momentum” since its agreement with the States began in April.
The company also confirmed that total bookings for 2025 exceeded 2024 levels, signaling sustained recovery and growth across its Channel Islands routes.
In December, the operator’s overall market share of sea travel between the Channel Islands and the UK and France reached 48%, further strengthening its position in the region.
Boost for Guernsey Tourism
Chief Executive Christophe Mathieu welcomed the figures, describing them as evidence of effective marketing efforts in both the UK and France during the quieter winter months.
He said the strong forward-booking performance reflects growing confidence in the company’s services and the increasing appeal of Guernsey as a visitor destination.
Industry observers note that higher early-season bookings typically provide greater certainty for the tourism and hospitality sectors, allowing businesses to plan staffing and services more effectively.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With reservations already significantly ahead of last year, Brittany Ferries appears well-positioned for continued expansion across its Guernsey routes.
The 33% rise in bookings signals robust demand for Channel Islands travel and underlines positive momentum for both the ferry operator and Guernsey’s wider tourism economy as the 2026 season approaches.
