London— Adagio has reached a major sustainability milestone as it expands its portfolio of Green Key-certified aparthotels to 78 properties, representing more than 60% of its total network. With 20 new certifications confirmed in 2026 alone, the achievement marks a decisive step in the company’s long-term ambition to make sustainable urban hospitality its operational standard across Europe and beyond.
This progress follows the launch of Adagio’s Green Key certification journey in 2025 and reinforces its stated goal of achieving 100% Green Key certification across its entire portfolio. As Europe’s leading aparthotel operator, Adagio is positioning sustainability at the core of its urban growth strategy.
A Network-Wide European and International Momentum
The latest Green Key certification ceremony, recognising newly accredited properties in France, was held in Strasbourg, underscoring the collective mobilisation of stakeholders in sustainable tourism. This year, 18 aparthotels in France joined the Green Key programme, strengthening Adagio’s domestic sustainability footprint.
Beyond France, Adagio’s Green Key-certified aparthotels now span 10 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland, as well as international markets such as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. The initiative extends across all operating models within the group, with 58 managed properties, 14 franchised sites and six master-franchised aparthotels now certified.
Measurable Impact Aligned with Everyday Operations
Green Key, one of the world’s most recognised sustainability labels for tourist accommodation, is based on rigorous criteria covering environmental policy, customer engagement, energy efficiency, water and waste management, responsible procurement and quality of living environments.
At Adagio, certification translates into tangible, data-driven results implemented at property level, including a 4% reduction in energy consumption per occupied apartment, water savings of up to 5% per guest at French sites, and the processing of more than 20 tonnes of biowaste through local partnerships. The programme has also accelerated the adoption of more durable household equipment, increased reliance on repair and circular-economy practices, and encouraged initiatives supporting urban biodiversity and community engagement.
Setting a Sustainable Standard for Urban Aparthotels
Green Key certification forms a central pillar of Adagio’s corporate social responsibility strategy, guided by its commitment to “Acting for the Transition of Cities.” With 20 additional certifications already confirmed for 2026, the brand is moving beyond symbolic recognition to embed sustainability into the design, development and daily operation of all new and existing properties.
“The growing number of Green Key-certified sites reflects the strong commitment of our teams and the consistency of our CSR strategy,” said Virginie Barboux, Senior Vice President Client & Marketing at Adagio. “This certification provides both a demanding framework and a powerful tool to mobilise our network toward measurable and collective progress in responsible hospitality.”
At property level, teams describe the initiative as both challenging and unifying, helping structure sustainability actions while strengthening employee engagement and guest awareness.
