London / Madrid — Anticipation is building ahead of football’s biggest global tournament this summer, with new data from Amadeus Travel Intelligence revealing a sharp acceleration in air and hotel bookings across the United States, Canada, and Mexico following the release of the match schedule.

As of January 8, 2026, total airline bookings to the three host nations for travel during the tournament window (June 5 to July 19) are up 15% year-on-year, reflecting growing confidence among fans as fixtures and venues are confirmed. The increase includes both domestic and international travel.

Post-draw surge fuels flight demand

Momentum intensified following the official draw on December 6, with Amadeus data showing that 37% of all flight bookings for the tournament period were made in the month immediately after the match schedule was released.

British fans are leading international demand, accounting for 18% of total international bookings into the US, Canada, and Mexico, as supporters finalize plans to follow their teams across North America.

The impact is particularly visible on specific routes:

  • Scotland–Boston bookings made in December rose 162-fold compared with the same month last year, ahead of Scotland’s opening match against Haiti at Gillette Stadium on June 13.
  • England–New York/New Jersey bookings were 3.5 times higher than the previous year, as England prepare to face Panama on June 27.

New York/New Jersey is emerging as one of the standout destinations overall, with multiple spikes in air demand across the tournament period.

A truly North American tournament

Accommodation data reinforces the scale of the opportunity across all three host nations. According to Amadeus Demand360®, hotel occupancy is already trending well ahead of last summer in key host cities, even several months out from kick-off.

In Canada, Vancouver hotels are averaging 53% occupancy on the eve and day of group matches, up from 31% on comparable dates last year. Toronto is also seeing strong growth, with occupancy rising from 15% to 29% across its five group-stage fixtures.

Mexico is experiencing similar momentum. Mexico City, which hosts the opening match between Mexico and South Africa on June 11, is seeing average occupancy of 21% on match nights, up from just 4% last year. Guadalajara and Monterrey are also benefiting, with occupancy increasing from 3% to 24% and 37%, respectively.

Across all 16 venues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, average hotel occupancy on the eve and day of group matches has climbed from 16% to 29%, signaling strong and geographically widespread demand as the tournament approaches.
